The history of the kaftan

The kaftan is a Persian word, and the style seems to have its origins in Ancient Mesopotamia. Worn by the Ottoman sultans with lavish embellishments the pattern lent itself to any fabric – silk, cotton, wool even fur. French couturiers recognising the style, grace and exoticism of the garment made it haute couture. Elegant, flowy with a hint of the exotic the kaftan can travel from beach to runway to an evening out with ease. We’ve made our kaftan in a rich red bandhni with a contrast green tie and detail. Wear it for an enchanting evening out, a day out on the beach or just to lounge around in.
